Bridesmaid dresses

This weekend I finally had the chance to visit with all of my bridesmaids that live out of state and they picked out their bridesmaid dresses. I had picked out two that I liked that were in the color I wanted. Their job was to decide which one was best for them, and find the size. So now I can order them all, and that part of the process will be done. Whew! I am excited to see all of this come together finally, with the dresses and all that goes into planning a wedding. I have also been working on getting my Save the Dates ready to mail out. So be checking your mailboxes in the coming weeks! haha
Life handed me the beginnings of a cold (or something!) and I haven't felt very much like myself all week. Mostly just in a bad mood I think. So I have spent my evenings by myself working on wedding stuff and school stuff. I am excited to go out to P.R. tonight to shoot at the gun club with my dad, and then I will be off to Corvallis this weekend to see Brandon and my sister. It is her birthday today! Happy Birthday Rachael! Hopefully I can battle this cold/yuckiness through the weekend. Until next time... Have a wonderful Thursday- Happy Lent!

Heppner

The weekend is here! Brandon is on his way from Corvallis to pick me up and we are off to Heppner for the weekend. It has been two weeks since we have seen each other, so it will be nice to catch up, relax and spend some time together. The only obligation we will have is getting to Pilot Rock Sunday morning in time for me to shoot with my dad at the P.R. Gun Club. Wahoo! Weekend, here we come.

Becky Time

I love weekends because it is a time to rejuvenate yourself. And that is exactly what I did this weekend.
I was home by myself, mostly.
I slept in.
I took naps.
I saw friends.
I went to church.
I was creative.
I took things to the Salvation Army.
I had time to myself! - it was a wonderful change!
This was the weekend to catch up on all of my little projects. To accomplish some small goals. I actually got to hang out with some friends that I hardly ever see anymore. (Thanks for the great party Kelly!) I read, I scrapbooked, I printed photos and I cooked. It was so nice to have this time. I have always felt this time was important to me, and I am so glad that I still have it as one of my priorities. I only hope that as I grow older and more busy that I can keep this special 'me' time. Or, as Brandon calls it, "Becky time". nice.

what do I blog about?

I LOVE having a blog.

I love the creativity that can go into keeping a blog.

I love having friends look and comment on my blog.

I have NO clue what to blog about!

My life seems to be gradually turning into more and more of an adult life lately. When you are young, all that you have to worry about is you. And, gradually, life steps it up and hands you more and more. The more you can handle, the better you can juggle, the more you get. I can feel this process happening in my life. I look at my parents, and my friends who are parents and feel pure amazement towards them. They have so much to do ALL the time, so much to balance and keep scheduled. They don't stop all day long, even if they are tired, or sick, or bored, they keep on going. I can feel this starting to happen to me. I don't have kids yet, but I have a job to take care of, meetings to attend, social events, a wedding to plan, personal obligations and family. Not to mention the man of my dreams who is 5 hours away! It is amazing to think that slowly and steadily God is handing me my life and letting me prove to myself that I can do it. I can handle this and He will help me. I just can't imagine what it is going to feel like when I have kids and a husband and a house on top of what I have now! Wow! So I guess what I am saying is, I'm along for the ride, and it has been great so far!

Super Bowl Weekend

Brandon was home this weekend, and Super Bowl weekend is always a little bit sentimental for us, because it is the weekend four years ago that we started dating! While it was nice to see him, it was such a crazy weekend that I am tired and ready for a weekend once again.
Friday night we went to the Denim and Diamonds ball at the fairgrounds. We went with a group of friends from high school/ college. There were about 12-14 of us in our group, and when we all got there, we quickly realized that we were pretty much the only people there, and for sure the only group that was there to have a good time and dance. The Little McKay Creek Band was there in full force, so after we had all had a beer or two, we were on the dance floor pretty much non stop.
Saturday morning Brandon and I had an appointment at the church in Pendleton to meet with Father Moss about our upcoming wedding. It was so nice to have some time one on one to meet with Father and share the story of Brandon and I. He has nice insight and good advice. I am feeling good about having him share in this ceremony, even if he wasn’t the Priest I grew up with.
Sunday we were off to Heppner to spend the day at his parents house, via Pendleton and Pilot Rock. Not the most direct route, but we had things to do. Once we finally made it to Black Mountain we had a nice day with his family, talking wedding and watching the game on TV.
All in all it was a nice weekend and I can't wait for Brandon to be home again.

Joy

I love to read. I have always loved to read, and probably will always love to read. However, I don't always feel as if I have the time and/or energy to read. So when my girlfriend gave me a book for Christmas, I was 90%thrilled, and felt 10% overwhelmed. "Oh", I thought, "another book to sit on my shelf and make me feel guilty". However, I was pretty excited about it, so I picked up The Power of a Praying Woman and began to read. This is such a wonderful book! It is exactly what I need and crave right now, and it is broken down into short, manageable chapters. Each section in only 5 pages or so, and I feel like I can sit down before bed, and accomplish a chapter before I go to sleep. I can read a section, read the prayer that goes with it, and then think about the next day.
Anyways, while I was reading this morning before work, I came across a particularly relevant paragraph. The chapter was talking about the control we have in our own lives to either be happy or not.
"All of us are planting something in our lives...we are also reaping whatever we have planted in the past...the quality of our lives right now is the result of what we planted...some time before." wow, how true is that?! And I kept reading, now totally enthralled and came across this passage...
"Joy has nothing to do with your circumstances. You can have joy in spite of difficult and painful problems..." That is exactly what I have been examining in my own life the past year or two. I have control over my happiness. If I want people to perceive me as a happy person, I have to show that I am a happy person. What a great book-

Four Year Anniversary

Brandon and I have dated for four years now. I can’t imagine life without him now, but I can’t believe it has already been four years! Last Friday was our 4 year anniversary and it was kind of sad because we were not going to see each other over the weekend. We barely even talked to each other, as Brandon was in a class all day and was not even supposed to talk to anyone during the day. However, when I took my students to library that day, I got word that there was a surprise in the office for me. When I got to the office there was a huge bouquet of flowers for me! I could hardly believe my eyes. It was a large bouquet of pink flowers in a beautiful glass vase. It was so wonderful, and I was so happy! I had hoped that morning that I would get flowers, but had resisted the urge to drop a ‘subtle’ hint the night before. I know I have an amazing man in my life, he sent me flowers on a very special day and put some time and effort into picking out the color and writing on the card. Way to go Mr. Young! I love you!
